Chatisimo Terms of Service

Effective date: November 1, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Chatisimo Discord application (“the Bot”, “the Service”), operated from the open-source project at github.com/HectorVeraO/chatisimo. By inviting Chatisimo to a Discord server or invoking any of its slash commands or interactive components, you agree to these Terms.

1. Relationship to Discord

Your use of Chatisimo is also subject to Discord’s Terms of Service and Discord’s Community Guidelines. You must meet Discord’s minimum age requirement for your jurisdiction to use the Service.

2. What Chatisimo Provides

Chatisimo provides two slash-command features inside Discord servers and direct messages with the Bot:

Gift Exchanges (/ge, /chatisimo): creating and joining group gift exchanges, configuring draw rules and mutual or one-way exclusions, storing participant gift preferences, running secret draws and scheduled reveals, and relaying anonymous questions and answers between a giver and their assigned recipient.
UC Match Calendar (/uc, /chatisimo uc, /uc-config): checking public Universidad Católica match fixtures and blocked availability windows, and delivering optional Friday and matchday alerts to a server channel configured by a server manager.

3. Acceptable Use

When using Chatisimo, you agree not to:

Submit unlawful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or infringing content in exchange names, gift preferences, or anonymous questions and answers.
Paste passwords, API keys, authentication tokens, financial account numbers, or other sensitive credentials into any command, modal, or prompt.
Attempt to probe, disrupt, overload, bypass permissions on, or extract another participant’s secret gift-exchange assignment from the Bot or its infrastructure.
Use automated scripts or self-bots to invoke Chatisimo commands.

We may restrict or block access to the Bot for any user or Discord server that violates these Terms or Discord’s policies.

4. Server Administration

Gift-exchange rules, roster removals, manual draws, reveals, and cancellations are controlled by the Discord user who created that exchange.
Server-wide UC calendar settings (/uc-config) require Discord’s Manage Server (ManageGuild) permission in that server.
Server administrators may remove Chatisimo from their server or clear UC alert settings (/uc-config clear) at any time.

5. AI-Assisted Text

When configured by the operator, Chatisimo uses a large language model (Google Gemini on Vertex AI) to:

Rephrase anonymous gift-exchange questions and answers so writing style does not reveal the sender’s identity before reveal day.
Generate short group-chat banter lines from public match-schedule metadata on /uc replies and match alerts.

AI-generated phrasing and public sports-schedule data (sourced from ESPN) may occasionally contain inaccuracies or delays. Match kickoff times and gift-exchange details are provided for informal social coordination only.

6. Service Availability and Modifications

Chatisimo is open-source software licensed under the MIT License and operated on a best-effort basis. We may update, suspend, or discontinue features or the hosted Bot instance at any time without prior notice.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATORS AND CONTRIBUTORS OF CHATISIMO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR MISSED EVENTS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms when features change. Updated Terms take effect when published at this URL, with the revised effective date shown at the top of the page. Continued use of Chatisimo after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
